The container is part of the protection
A vial’s closure is intended to maintain a barrier between the contents and the surrounding environment. A compromised seal can allow moisture or outside material to enter even when the peptide originally met its chemical specifications.
Visual inspection and leak testing differ

FDA treats container integrity as a defined testing question. A formal test requires an appropriate method; looking at a cap is not interchangeable with an instrumental procedure. FDA: container closure integrity.
Why the distinction matters
Moisture ingress can affect dry material, and a loss of the intended barrier can create an opportunity for contamination. A high purity result cannot rule out either a packaging defect or later exposure. Equally, an intact-looking seal cannot establish sterility.
What a useful report records
- Which samples were examined and how they connect to the batch.
- Whether the result is visual inspection or a named integrity procedure.
- The defects or findings observed.
- The criterion used to assess the result.
- Any qualifications or unexamined features.
Read “product integrity” according to the issuing laboratory’s actual scope. Do not infer that every possible package property was tested.
At delivery
Inspect the glass, cap, seal and label. If you see broken glass, leakage or a loose seal, keep the item isolated and avoid further handling of damaged glass.
