Why the amount changes the experiment

Preparing an experiment from the label alone assumes the vial contains that amount. An underfilled sample makes the actual concentration lower than intended; an overfilled sample creates the opposite problem. That can shift an apparent concentration-response relationship even if the compound itself is highly pure.

Gross powder weight is not peptide amount

Dry contents can include counterions and residual moisture. A balance measures everything on it; it does not selectively weigh the target peptide. Likewise, chromatographic purity is not automatically the percentage of gross dry mass that is peptide. Bachem: peptide content and handling.

A good average can hide inconsistent vials

Ask whether results describe individual vials, a pooled sample or an average. The published report must establish the sample count; do not infer it from the number of tests advertised.

For blends, check each component

A 20 mg total does not prove a 10 mg + 10 mg split. A 5 mg + 15 mg mixture has the same total. Component-specific measurements are needed to assess the stated ratio. Calibration, sample preparation and dilution must support the reported amount. FDA / ICH Q2(R2): analytical validation.

• Find the measured amount, unit and sample identifier.
• Compare it with the labeled strength and stated acceptance criterion.
• Keep any qualification or uncertainty with the result.
• Do not “correct” a quantity result using a separate purity percentage unless the laboratory explicitly defines that calculation.
